A NEW BUILD, A YOUNG FAMILY AND AN OPEN BRIEF ALLOWED ME TO REALLY TAKE FLIGHT WITH THIS PROJECT IN CO. LIMERICK.
There were, of course a number of existing design elements that I had to work with, such as the floor and some of the seating. But in general the clients wanted a more homely and timeless finish to their exiting builders grade interior.
I started with the existing sofa as it was quite a striking mauve colour. Working with this in mind I chose a palette of tonal shades: blues, purples and natural tones. By working within this tonal family – with a touch of contrast in the greenery and chrome finishes – and considering a lighting plan from the start, I was able to create a welcoming and modern interior without the rough edges of a new build. The addition of commissioned art, faux foliage, throws and other accessories helped turn this house into a sophisticated home for its owners.
